he soon to open 9,000-plus seat Bert Ogden Arena announced The King of Bachata, Romeo Santos, is bringing his Golden Tour to the RGV on Oct. 20.
The tour is titled after Santos’ latest studio album “Golden,” which was released last year and earned the biggest sales week for a Latin studio album not only of 2017, but in over two years. The album also marks Santos’ fourth No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart and his third top 10 on the Billboard 200.
“There’s no other artist that hasn’t released an English language album and still sells as many tickets as Romeo,” explained Hans Schafer, head of Live Nation’s Latin group. “And he’s speaking to a new generation of both Hispanic and non-Hispanic millennials. There’s a good mix within his fan base and you see it when he’s singing in Spanish but engages with them in English. That’s how his fans live their lives, speaking in English but staying connected to their roots through music.”
Tickets go on sale Friday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at bertogdenarenargv.com.
The Golden Tour will kick off September 15 in Las Vegas and will visit 18 cities in the U.S., including stops in cities not included on the last leg of the tour, such as Seattle, Sacramento and Tampa. The tour is set to wrap up October 21 in Dallas.
Romeo Santos is the fourth musical act Bert Ogden Arena has announced to play in the Edinburg’s new venue, joining Luis Miguel, J Balvin and Alejandro Fernandez and Los Tigres del Notre.
