et those running shoes ready for the 36th City of Edinburg All-America City 10K Run/Walk & Fun Run going down bright and early this Saturday Feb. 3rd.
The City of Edinburg will kick off its annual event at 8 a.m. with the Miracle Mile, followed by the 10K at 9 a.m., and will conclude with the Fun Run – a run for kids of all ages. Last year’s event saw more than 3,000 walkers and runners in the 10K and almost 4,000 in the Fun Run.
“This is a family event,” Mayor Richard Molina said in a video posted to the City of Edinburg’s Facebook page on Monday. “I know there’s some serious runners that go out there and do the 10K, we also have our miracle mile. Following all of that, we’ll have the 2K Fun Run, which I always participate in with the kids. On behalf of the Edinburg City Council, we’ll see you Saturday.”
There will be awards handed out to the top five male and female finishers in each of the 18 different age categories. All ages are encouraged to sign up for the run/walk as the age categories range from 8 & under to 80 & older.
The deadline to register online is Thursday Feb. 1 and the deadline for walk-in registration is Friday Feb. 2. For those looking to register in person, you can do so at 315 E. Palm Drive in Edinburg.
Packet pick up is going on now through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be no race day registration but for those already registered, you will be allowed to pick up your packet on Saturday.
