Intocable, La Mafia set to perform

his year marks the 50th Annual Fiesta Edinburg and the city of Edinburg and residents of the Rio Grande Valley are ready to do it big with the party set to begin this week.

Started in 1968 to celebrate Edinburg becoming the home of the County Seat of Hidalgo, County, Fiesta Edinburg is the Chamber’s largest celebration. This year, La Mafia and Intocable will grace the Fiesta Edinburg stage.

“Besides being a fun, quality of life event for the city of Edinburg and the Rio Grande Valley, Fiesta Edinburg also symbolizes an important moment in Edinburg’s history. Fiesta Edinburg is known as a big party that was initially created to commemorate Edinburg’s County Seat.”

The event begins Thursday Feb. 22 with the Heart of America Carnival from 6 to 10 p.m. with $10 all-you-can-ride tickets at Edinburg Municipal Park.

On Friday, taking the Fiesta Stage is Vision from 7-8 p.m., Gilberto Jr. Y Los Dos Gilbertos from 8:30-9:30 p.m., with Intocable closing the show from 10 to 11:30 p.m. There will also be a Family Fun Zone, Contacto Animal Show and Aqua Acro Aerialist.

Saturday will kick off with the Fiesta Edinburg Celebrating 50 Years Parade that will start at Richard R. Flores Stadium and end at the Hidalgo County Courthouse parking lot. There will be a car show from noon to 5 p.m. Taking the Fiesta Stage on Saturday will be Ricky Guzman from 7 to 8 p.m., David Lee Garza y Los Musicales from 8:30 to 9:45 p.m. and La Mafia from 10:15 to 11:45 p.m.

Parking is free, as well as free admission to the festival, but concert tickets will be sold separately and can be purchased at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, Ticket Zone, Hermes Music and The Boot Jack.
